The main idea that is the driving force behind the company is to exceed customer’s expectations and while offering excellent quality and service. Serving as a platform for new and enthusiastic designers, the textile giant provides an opportunity for designers to work with them and later on get picked up by bigger ventures. Always pushing the boundaries, Al Zohaib has produced a variety of lawn collections such as the designer series; Mahiymaan, Tabbassum Mughal, Mahgul, Tena Durrani, Mehdi, Rizwan Beyg and Karma and their own in house brands such as, Al Zohaib Premium, Al Zohaib Embroidered, Al Zohaib Prints, Anum Printed Lawn & Monsoon Printed Lawn just to name a few.
We speak to the CEO Zohaib Nagda and find out a little more about this inspirational venture:
Q1. Tell us a little bit about Al-Zohaib and how you came about to start it?
As a family we had the association with the “Lawn & textile market” as our forefathers were into lawn distribution from over 50 years. However ALZOHAIB as a textile brand came about in 2002, when the fashion market moved away from fabrics such as silk, polyesters etc to the “lawn fabric” (natural fibers) as it’s considered more suited to the weather of our country and preferred largely for the daily wear. Initially the brand was focused towards creating unconventional designs for the lawn fabric; however in 2008, we saw the shift in the mindset from lawn being the basic fabric to becoming a fashion fabric in the Pakistan fashion industry. Hence, from 2010 in no time we gradually moved into creating designer lawn collections and also introduced our very successful in-house premium brands.
Q2. Tell us about your design style and how it was developed over time.
ALZOHAIB has more than 10 different brands under its umbrella, offering different pricing and style range. Our premium luxury brands like Mahiymaan , and our designer lawn collections such as Tena Durrani, Mahgul and Tabbassum Mughal, fall under the formal collections, however the designs are best suited to be worn on all occasions by our targeted niche market. We also have a wide variety of casual brands which are merely ready to wear kurtis, printed lawn without embroidery, with embroidery and fashion fabrics. Our yearly calendar focuses on 4 seasons starting from Spring/Summer, Eid Collections, Wedding Season and winter to provide our customers the maximum variety for the whole year round.
Q3. Where do you take inspiration from for your designs and collections?
Our design team at ALZOHAIB is always trying to create dynamic designs with inspirations from international trends in terms of fabric, color palate and embroideries. Since lawn is a product of the masses, at ALZOHAIB we try to cater to housewives to working women. Our theory is to try to localize the inspirations taken from the latest trends and incorporate the aesthetics in our designs. Hence our team is always working hard to provide our clients the best in creating a fashion statement within affordable price range.
Q4. What important lessons have you learnt during your journey of working with Al-Zohaib?
One of the key lessons which are primarily associated with starting any business is that sometimes even the big names can fail, if they don’t provide good products to their customers. However at ALZOHAIB we had the immense pleasure of working with some of the leading names in the fashion industry. Big wigs like Rizwan Beyg, MEHDI, Karma, Tena Durrani, Mahgul, Tabassum Mughal, etc. have designed lawn collections for us periodically. Along with the success of the designer lawn collections our in-house brands such as Mahiymaan have been a stellar collection among the customers in terms of quality and the designs. Hence in a nutshell it all depends on the product.
Q5. Where do you see your brand in the next five years?
At ALZOHAIB we think big, so we have many big plans lined up ahead, one of which includes launching the chain of our much awaited ALZOHAIB’S stores all across Pakistan along with another new project introducing an exciting high street brand for the specific market. Moreover we’ll continue working rigorously towards promoting the Pakistan fashion industry by many more exciting collaborations with talented and dynamic designers along with the launching of many more in-house labels.
As admirable is their past, their future looks even brighter – with plans to open up stores with stitched and un-stitched clothes, shoes and accessories Al Zohaib is set to take the markets across country by storm.
