The 62-year-old actor despite his popular success and committing to film making and acting at the mere age of eight has never won an Oscar before. The Hong Kong-born star of Hollywood movies such as Kung Fu Panda, The Karate Kid and the Rush Hour franchise, will join documentary maker Frederick Wiseman, British film editor Anne V. Coates and casting director Lynn Stalmaster as recipients of the 2016 Governors Awards.
Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs described the four as "true pioneers and legends in their crafts". Each will receive an honorary Oscar statuette awarding their lifetime contribution to film at Governors Awards ceremony in November.
