Celebrities Express Grief As Legendary Guitarist Aamir Zaki Passes Away at 49
As news of ace guitarist Aamir Zaki's passing spread, Pakistani celebrities and fans alike took to social media to express their grief and sorrow.
Aamir Zaki, passed away due to heart failure on Friday, his family and friends confirmed. He was 49. According to brother Shahid Zaki, he had been suffering from prolonged illness for quite some time.
Born in Saudi Arabia in 1968, Zaki started playing the guitar at age 14. He was popularly known for a short stint with the Vital Signs in 1994 when he toured with the band before being asked to leave. He then pursued a solo career and launched his debut album Signature in 1995, which became an instant hit. He was awarded a Soundcraft Gold Disc for his album, from which the song Mera Pyaar became a massive hit.
The elusive Zaki who made his debut on Coke Studio on 2014, was last seen performing at the two-day long I Am Karachi Music Festival. He also spent most of his time collaborating with other musicians.
He will forever be remembered as one of the most talented guitar players to have come out of Pakistan.
