HOW DO YOU CHOOSE YOUR ROLES? IS THERE SOMETHING SPECIFIC YOU LOOK FOR WHEN A SCRIPT COMES TO YOU FOR APPROVAL?
Sometimes the first thing is the story itself, then comes the character. Often it's a super interesting character with a storyline that may be a normal good story. The main thing then comes, how can I add value to the project, how does the character? What's the depth I can go into? If the checkboxes are ticked off, then I'm game.
DO YOU PREPARE A LOT BEFORE THE CAMERA ROLLS?
I try to do the best I can. It's very difficult for me to do a scene without rehearsing for it; I've done it, could’ve been, should've been better. If it's a demanding scene, then I try to isolate my thoughts and think of the scene in terms of how I can approach it with the character in mind.
IS THERE A CONTEMPORARY ACTOR YOU LOOK UPTO?
Man these days Ahmed Ali Akbar is doing great, and what a great job with Parizad right?!
AS AN ACTOR, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF PEMRA’S RECENT INTIMACY BAN BETWEEN MARRIED TV COUPLES?
We've never showcased intimacy between a couple on Pakistani television... So I didn't understand what exactly was being banned.
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST PET PEEVE REGARDING THE PAKISTANI DRAMA INDUSTRY?
The lack of value in a project. From pre production, to production to post production.
WHAT SHOW, DOMESTIC OR INTERNATIONAL WOULD YOU ABSOLUTELY LOVE TO BE A PART OF?
Anything that's made with heart honestly. We can easily create as good as international shows/movies if we're just given the time and resources to put our hearts into our work.
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT WORKING?
I try to spend time with friends and family, and work on passion projects.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN THE RACE?
Just getting the engine warmed up.
