South Asian talent taking the industry by storm
IN A RECENT wave of South Asian talent taking over the fashion and movie industries, we reminiscence the times we saw Yasmeen Ghauri walking the ramp for Victoria’s Secret and other famous names. It was not very common for an individual with a Pakistani descent to be seen on the runway or on the cover of international magazines but she made way for the rest of our talent to follow.
In recent times, actors such as Hannah Simone, who plays the uber chic Cece in New Girl have made their name on screen along with the Bollywood starlets Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone who have recently completed their Hollywood debuts. Shanina Shaik has walked the ramp for Victoria Secret, to name but a few.
It seems that the world has moved away from the idea of beauty only being restricted to blue-eyed blondes. South Asian beauty is now welcomed wholeheartedly on the international platform.
