Q. How did you meet your husband?
A. Since he’s the one who set eyes on me you’ll have to ask him how he first met me.
Q. What was the most memorable part of your wedding?
A. The most memorable part of my wedding would have to be when I heard my husband say, and I quote, “mujhay noorjahan qabool hai” on the day of our nikkah with full Bollywood flair.
Q. Were you a bridezilla at all?
A. Really? I don’t think any bride can get through her wedding without a few melodramatic bridezilla episodes here and there.
Q. As a bride, what was the one thing you were most particular about?
A. Hair, make-up, clothes. Repeat.
Q. What stressed you out the most about your wedding preparations?
A. Dance practices of course. I wanted team Noorjahan to eat, sleep, breathe dances. I made them dance in my lounge, bedroom, bathroom and even in my garden!
Q. Tell us about your favourite bridal look.
A. Well, that definitely has to be my mehndi look. I was absolutely in love with my Dr.Haroon ensemble and the jewels had emotional value, as they were my great grandmother’s.
Q. What is the most important element in a bridal look? (clothes, jewellery or makeup/hair)
A. It has to be a perfect combination of all, but if I had to choose one, I would have to go with clothes. All bride needs to know their own unique style and be comfortable in their own skin.
Q. Did you follow any beauty and fitness regime before the wedding?
A. I am a huge fan of ‘desi totkas’ so I never visited these big parlours. I had a traditional herbal expert coming to my house who I can swear by.
Q. What is your most favourite item from your trousseau?
A. One of my guilty pleasures – my solitaires.
Q. What tips would you give to a stressed out bride-to-be?
A. As much as you plan and stress out, what is going to happen will happen, so enjoy the blunders, the crises, the laughter because these moments will make the best memories. Your wedding day happens once in a lifetime!
