Atif Aslam Will Not Sing For Onir's Next Film After All
National Award-winning director Onir says he wanted to work with Pakistani singer Atif Aslam for his upcoming film Shab but could not do so because of the escalating tensions between Pakistan and India.

According to the famed director, he feels it will be a "loss for both industries" if the gap between India and Pakistan is not bridged soon enough. He also feels as though he missed the opportunity to work with the singing sensation but says he will definitely work with him in the future.

In a conversation with IANS, the director said, “I really wanted to work with Atif Aslam. It would have been so amazing, just like a retreating therapy. But unfortunately, at the time when we had to record, things were not great between the neighbouring countries. There were a lot of problems happening with films and ours being a small one, I couldn’t afford that kind of thing.”

Atif and the director have worked earlier in Bas Ek Pal for which the singer recorded Tere Bin and ever since the duo have been close.

Shab stars Raveena Tandon, Ashish Bisht and shall mark the Bollywood debut of French actor Simon Frenay.

As a tribute to his friendship with Atif, Onir has used Tere Bin in the film as background music. The romantic-drama is about relationships and dreams.

Talking about the film, Onir added, “The journey with Shab was very special. It started 17 years ago, when I wrote the first draft of it. It has been a really long journey.”

Shab is set to go on floors on June 30.
