Sticking religiously to a diet plan is not everyone’s cup of tea. Particularly during the quarantine, where all eating and sleeping patterns are lopsided and most diet regimens thrown out the window.

Inculcating these simple clean habits in your daily meals and eating patterns can help you shed weight in a healthy, regulated manner, without starving yourself.

Here goes:

1) No Sugar In Chai Rule

We desis have a lot of chai and the hot weather has in no way hindered our chai-chugging capacity. Say, on an average if you are having three to four cups of tea, with TWO ‘sinful’ spoonfuls of sugar, is it not adding substantially to your daily calorie count? Quitting your morning, evening, pre-dinner cup of tea is not an option, but drinking  unsweetened tea certainly is. Developing a taste for unsweetened chai comes with time and patience – but once you’ve adopted it, you will successfully bid adieu to a huge source of sugar consumption from your life. However, watch out for overdosing on caffeine!

2) Fresh Lime Over Bottled Fizzy Drinks

Need a drink to wash down your spicy meals with? Trust us, fresh lime works better than fizzy, sugary sodas and adds a better flavor to your meals as well.

3) Switching to Brown Rice

Any brown person would confess to being a devoted lover of rice. We can easily have it straight for two meals in a day without complaining. But do you know, you can lose weight just by cutting out rice from your meal plan alone? One bowl of cooked rice has about 136 calories and a plateful of cooked rice has 272 calories which is about 80 grams a plate.  A very good alternative is switching to brown rice which has less carb content, is low in calories and enriched with essential nutrients. Therefore, it is the best substitute for white rice and hence, a great way to lose weight.

4) Lentils and Veggies are Your Best Friends!

A steaming bowl of masala daal with sides of sautéed veggies can make for a delectable, healthy meal, giving you a break on eating oily curries daily. Switching to vegetable curries cooked in low-fat olive or coconut oil is also a great option for dropping weight.
