Why Juicing Is  A Myth:

Your liver and your kidneys are your natural detox organs. The idea that you can flush your system of impurities and leave your organs squeaky clean is a scam. It’s a pseudo-medical concept designed to sell you things. There is not a single scientific study to date that supports the idea of 'detoxing' and 'body cleansing' with juices/liquid diets. Besides, 90% of the weight loss on a juice cleanse is water. It comes back within 5 days of resuming a regular diet!

Why Juicing will make you fatter and mess up your metabolism in the long run!

When you Juice you are putting pure fruit sugar in your body leading to an instant insulin spike. Think about it…can you eat 10 oranges in one go? However, you can probably drink the juice easily.

The high fructose content means that the body has to release the hormone insulin to regulate the increased sugar levels in your body, creating an ‘insulin spike’, which means you need to burn off the sugar by exercising or it will be stored in the body as fat.

Insulin spikes lead to weight gain in the long run. And once that sugar wears off, you’ll be hungry again much sooner than if you’d eaten the same amount of calories in protein or fat.

In fact, any time you drink fruit juice rather than eat fruit, you are setting yourself up for a so-called sugar crash — where, just a few hours after eating, you crave something sweet.

If you keep on raising blood sugar like this over a long period of time you may become insulin resistant, which is where the body cells stop responding to the hormone. This is a pre-diabetic state which increases your risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Homemade Soup Instead of Juice!

Souping is an alternative way to give your digestive system a rest, get vital nutrients, and melt off the pounds!

At my studio, I encourage brides (or girls who want to burst through a plateau) to have homemade yakhni or bone broth one or two days a week. Additionally, if you want to lose more weight, feel free to have bone broth for dinner 5 to 6 days a week. Homemade bone-broth is filling, low in calories and rich in protein. It is a super food.

Why do it? Botox in a Cup!

Broth is like a premium stock, made from bones and veggies simmered on low heat over many hours. This low and slow cooking process draws all the nourishing nutrients out of the bones, the final product being a thick flavourful broth packed with vitamins, minerals and the star player, Gelatin.

Gelatin is derived from the broken down collagen in the bones and provides the necessary structural components for healing and sealing the digestive tract. The liquid collagen is also great for your skin, hair, nails and joints. It is incredibly anti-aging and has been referred to as ‘Botox in a Cup.’

Ingredients

  • bones from 1 whole roasted chicken (organic)

  • 2 carrots, roughly chopped

  • 1/2 large onion, roughly chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed

  • 3/4 teaspoon fine sea salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary

  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme

  • 1 bay leaf

  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar

Directions

Combine all the ingredients plus 10 cups water in a large pot and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer, cover, and cook for 4-6 hours. Strain and discard the solids.

Or if you like, boil vegetables separately and add them to your bone broth for a more filling souping experience.
