Who doesn’t a like a good homemade DIY lip balm? A lip balm which is light on the pocket, hygienic and goes a long way! Here are 3 recipes that you could try:
1. Cocoa-Rose Lip Balm
The ingredients needed for this recipe are 2 tbsp coconut oil, 1 tbsp grated cocoa butter, 1 tbsp of dried rose petals and ¼ tsp of vitamin E oil (which can be squeezed from the gel caps of the capsule).
The method for this recipe is also pretty simple. All you have to do is on a very low heat, add coconut oil and add dried rose petals in a small pan and stir well.Allow it to simmer for a couple of minutes and then strain it into a fine mesh cloth. Pour the oil back into the pan and add cocoa butter and stir until it is melted.Next, remove it from the heat, add vitamin E oil and stir well. Lastly, transfer it into the lip balm container and let it sit until the desired consistency is achieved.
2. Honey and essential oil Lip Balm
All you need are three ingredients for this super effective lip balm. 1 tbsp Honey, half tbsp petroleum jelly and few drops of any essential oil of your choice. For the procedure, take petroleum jelly and add a few drops of honey and essential oil into it. Now, mix them all thoroughly and your effective lip balm is ready. It doesn’t get easier than this!
3. Raspberry Lemon Lip Balm
This name of the lip balm says it all. The ingredients needed for this recipe are 2 tbsp coconut oil, half tsp Raspberry Gelatin Mix (for color purpose) and some drops of lemon essential oil.
The method is to put the room temperature coconut oil in your microwave safe bowl. Heat up the coconut oil in the microwave for about 20 seconds. Then add the raspberry gelatin mix and mix until well incorporated. Place the coconut oil back into the microwave for another 20 seconds. You will notice it will have a nice deep raspberry color to it. Next, add your lemon essential oil and mix well. Lastly, pour the melted mixture into your lip balm containers and set aside. You can store at room temperate or place it into the fridge until it hardens.
