Kumail Nanjiani To Appear In 'My Beautiful Laundrette' TV series

Lead actor and writer of the rom-com The Big Sick, Kumail Nanjiani has signed on to co-write and act in an upcoming TV adaptation of  My Beautiful Laundretteaccording to  Variety


My Beautiful Laundrette is a screenplay written by Pakistani-British writer Hanif Kureshi that was adapted into an Oscar-nominated film starring Daniel Day Lewis in 1985.


"The film revolved around a young British man of Pakistani heritage and his white boyfriend, a former gang leader, who take on running a London laundromat owned by the British-Pakistani man’s uncle. The film was lauded for its portrayal of the gay and immigrant communities," reports Variety.


The TV adaptation will have 10 episodes and will be executive produced by Academy Award-winning writer-director Stephen Gaghan along with Kureishi and Silicon Valley’s Alec Berg.
