Marriage is a partnership between two people and to make this bond work the first and foremost thing is communication. Without communication we are a black and white silent film trying to figure out what the other person is thinking. Furthermore, society is evolving towards equity and dismantling gender norms. In essence: women are working, men are taking care of the kids, and it is deemed normal. For your person to realize that you certainly want to work, here are some points that might help you!
KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO DO
You cannot go up to him and tell him that you want to work without an actual plan. If you know what you want to do (especially if you’re good at it) the process of breaking the news might go smoothly.
COUNT THE PERKS
Look at the pros of you working and list them down! We’ll give you a hint; making the ends meet in your house, it’s going to keep you busy, a few extra greens won’t hurt etc.
DO A JOB ONLINE
After the pandemic everything has gone online. Telling your husband that you’ll be doing work from home with flexible hours is definitely going to work.
GET A DIPLOMA
To show that you’re positive about being a working woman, getting a diploma or mastering a particular art always helps. This will enhance your personal skills as well as help you gain better opportunities.
START TEACHING
Teachers are always needed. Being a teacher is a respectable position and you can share your skills by giving tuitions in the comfort of your house.
COMMUNICATE
Communication is the solution to every problem. Do not turn the conversation into a fight, instead talk about the pros and cons, let the other person know your intentions and gain their trust.
LISTEN TO THEIR POINT OF VIEW
Everyone is entitled to different opinions and perspectives, we can’t change them. What we can do is try to convince them by providing options that will help both parties equally.
Considering the fact that we live in a competitive society, displaying one's desire to work should be heard and applauded. We encourage girls to make something of themselves and be proud of what they do.
