Dalgona Coffee May Be Going Viral Right Now But In Pakistan We've Been Making Frothy Instant Coffee For Years
Banana bread and Dalgona coffee—everyone’s go-to quarantine combo lately. Ever since the world has gone into lockdown, people are finding different tasks to keep themselves busy; be it cleaning, gardening or trying new recipes such as the infamous coffee which has taken the internet by storm!
Dalgona coffee’s beautiful frothy top is achieved by a lot of hand whisking (pro tip: just use an electric mixer), something us Pakistani’s have been doing for the longest time.
All you need to do is whip instant coffee, sugar, and water until a light brown airy fluffy mixture has been achieved. Basically, it's normal coffee but in reverse, the only difference milk is added in first.
All you need:
- 2 tablespoon instant coffee
- 2 tablespoon cold water
- 2 tablespoon granulated sugar
- Ice for serving
- Milk for serving
Directions:
- In a medium bowl, combine sugar, coffee, and water. Vigorously whisk until mixture turns silky smooth and shiny, then continue whisking until it thickens and holds its lofty, foamy shape.
- Fill a glass most of the way full with ice and milk, then dollop and swirl the whipped coffee mixture on top, mixing before drinking, if desired.
Note: Can be served with hot or cold milk
