KE’s KHI Awards 2 – A Success for Karachi

KHI Awards 2, an initiative by KE, endorsed by NEPRA and launched in collaboration with #IAmKarachi, honours numerous charitable organizations and their work towards upliftment of Karachi. 40 winners were picked from 13 categories - Empowering Women, Education, Digital Accessibility and Financial Inclusion, Heritage and Cultusre, Public Health (Primary Sector), Public Health (Secondary and Tertiary Sector), Safety, Sports, Inclusion, Lively Hoods and Vocational Training, Social Service, Sustainability and Environment and Uplifting Communities. 

The awards nights featured appearances by several key figures responsible for the socioeconomic development of Karachi. The award show took place at the prestigious Governor House and was hosted by one of Karachi’s favourite RJ Khalid Malik and the glamourous Sidra Iqbal, who introduced the awards and the nominees and recognized their efforts towards economic prosperity and social upliftment. It was clear that night, win or lose, the work of these nominated organisations was instrumental in shaping Karachi’s youth for tomorrow. 

Chief Guest of the night, Governor of Sindh, Imran Ismail alongside key leaders of KE, CEO Moonis Alvi and CMCO Sadia Dada also addressed at the event. Chairman NEPRA, Tauseef Farooqi and Chairman for the Board of Investment (BOI), Azfar Ahsan, also congratulated KE on their efforts to recognize and award the numerous organizations working for the welfare of the people of Karachi. 

The award show was also graced by the presence of some Pakistan’s well-known celebrities. Anwar Maqsood praised KE for leading the way in the energy sector and Shehzad Roy performed like a rock star with his catchy guitar riffs, singing Tum Se Hi Chalta Hai Sheher. 

Some of the winners who won at the KHI Awards 2 included SINA Health, Education and Welfare Trust, The Citizens Foundation, Orange Tree Foundation, The Citizens Archive of Pakistan, Karachi Down Syndrome Program, NOWPDP and Ayesha Chundrigar Foundation.

At the event, the leaders of K-Electric also shed light on the matter of diversity and inclusivity, particularly emphasizing on the importance of women empowerment through their Roshni Baji platform, which is empowering women of our society to take up gender biased roles of field technician and meter readers.  

Chairman NEPRA, Tauseef Farooqi also commended on the initiatives that KE is taking in helping the communities it’s serving. KHI Awards 2 also sparked conversations on social media which ultimately became the most talked about topic on Twitter on Sunday.
