The hosts trailed 24-18 at half time but clawed their way back in the second period to become the new world champions. The team completed a lap of honour after the match, celebrating as the fans roared in their favour. Apart from India, teams from Iran, Canada, Australia, United States, Sierra Leone and Kenya took part in the event.
