Hi Hina, it is lovely to have you here. Before we dive into your professional life as a model and actor, who were you before you tapped into the entertainment industry?
I am humbled and obliged to be here! I always wanted to be a chef. I love cooking and serving meals to people bring me immense joy.
Tell us about your debut acting project ‘Pehli Si Mohabbat’. How did you land the opportunity and what was your experience like working with well-known and a c c l a i m e d a c t o r s s u c h a s Sheheryar Munawar and Maya Ali?
‘Alhumdulillah’ for the great opportunities and the smooth start of my career. I absolutely adore Maya Ali. She was my brother’s friend and we met for a dinner at our home and instantly clicked. At that time, she was doing ‘Pehli Si Mohabbat’ and she referred me for a role. Working with such great actors was a dream come true, you learn so much and the exposure is huge.
We’ve recently seen you in TV drama ‘Kacha Dhaga’. What do you hope audiences will take away from the drama and your performance?
I received immense love from my audience and what I believe, as per the story of ‘Kacha Dhaga’, that revenge is overrated. Stay kind and spread peace, always.

How do you handle criticism or negative feedback from audiences or critics about your performances?
I am not quick to react but rather an active listener. I believe healthy criticism is good. But one thing is a big no - trolling. It should be avoided.
Can you relate to your characters in any way, or do you find it challenging to separate yourself from the role?
I cannot say if I do or do not relate to my characters in any way, but I try my utmost best to pour myself into the characters I play and feel for them.
What do you keep in mind before saying yes to a script? Are there any specific factors that you prioritise when choosing your roles?
Definitely! There are a lot of factors I keep in mind but top three are strong impression of character, plot and especially the team involved.
You’re also a model who has worked for multiple designers/ brands. What sparked your interest in becoming a model? What was your first modelling gig and experience like?
(Laughs) Hussain Rehar, the great designer, is my best friend. We met at the gym and he made a video of me modelling via his phone and uploaded the footage on social media. The rest is history. Since then I have been receiving calls from different brands. Funny story but that is how I started my modelling career.

What made you transition from modelling to acting? Was it something you were always gravitated toward, or was it a decision that came about more organically?
My family has been calling me a diva long before I entered the industry (laughs). I love fashion and acting simultaneously. It truly gives me joy doing what I do.
If you had to choose between acting and modelling, which one would you pick and why?
I believe acting and modelling are cheek by jowl. But I prefer acting.
Any dramas in the pipeline we need to watch out for?
Yes, I am working on a few exciting projects and one of them is ‘Akhara’ which will be airing soon. Stay tuned.

What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learnt from working in the entertainment field? And what is something that surprised you?
Resilience and perseverance; the entertainment industry can be h i g h l y c o m p e t i t i v e a n d demanding. What surprised me is the unpredictability. Projects can take unexpected turns, deals may fall through, or a sudden change in public sentiments can drastically impact a performer’s career.

What is next for Hina Afridi? Any goal you want to achieve by the end of the year?
My goal is to further hone my craft and take on diverse and challenging roles that allow me to showcase my versatility as an artist.
