Britain's Prince William and American icon Lady Gaga have come together to encourage people to speak more openly about mental health issues in a video released on Tuesday. It was a FaceTime call and the pair posted the video on Facebook to urge people to break the stigma surrounding mental health.
The pop star joined the Duke of Cambridge's Heads Together, a campaign he leads alongside Prince Harry and Duchess to raise awareness on mental illness.
“It’s time that everyone speaks up and really feels very normal about mental health, it’s the same as physical health,” the Duke of Cambridge told popstar from Kensington Palace in London. “It’s so important to break open that fear and that taboo which is only going to lead to more problems down the line,” he added.
The pair have decided to work together and focus on the youth. They have made plans to meet in October in the UK. Ironically, the release of the video comes just days after Prince Harry revealed that he sought help to deal with the grief of losing his mother, Princess Diana.
The video has been watched over 500,000 times within hours of its release.
