Pakistani celebrities have initiated a social media campaign seeking royalties due to TV and film artists.
The ‘royalties for artists' initiative was launched in response to acclaimed TV actress Naila Jaffery's appeal for royalties from reruns of her dramas to help fund her cancer treatment.
In order to raise awareness about the problem, Pakistani celebrities took to Instagram and Twitter on Sunday evening with the hashtag #giveroyaltiestoartists, saying, "It is time to make this happen."
Mahira Khan, Minal khan, Iqra Aziz, Yasir Hussain, Mansha Pasha, Sakina Samo, Zara Noor Abbas, Armeena Khan, Kübra Khan, Asad Siddiqui, and others spoke up to demand that artists be paid royalties.
