HALF HOUR WITH SAUBAN UMAIS
Was modelling always the dream? How did you tap into t h e i n d u s t r y ?
Not sure about modelling but I always knew I’ll be famous someday. My sister Lara Mudhwal was a model and a stylist. I used to be so interested in her shoots so I decided that I should also give it a shot.
What are your goals for 2023?
To become a better person. To make my sister and my family proud. And to be closer to Allah.
Like most of our models, do you also plan on making the shift to acting some day?
I haven’t thought about it yet, just focusing on modelling for now.
A pro and con of working in the modelling industry?
Pro: It’s so much fun! Money is good.
Con: Late payments.
What is your greatest strength and weakness as a professional?
Strength is I think I’m versatile. Not sure if I have any weakness.
A fashion trend you wouldn’t want to see again in the new year?
When it comes to fashion, I’m really open to ideas. I like all types of fashion.
If not a model, what would you be pursuing instead?
Bodybuilding probably.
One modelling myth you’d want to debunk?
People think modelling is really easy, but it’s not! It’s a 24/7 job. You got to stay in shape, sleep on time, take care of your hair, your skin, eat clean and workout six days a week.
Which models did you look up to from the Pakistani industry when you started your career in modelling?
Lara Mudhwal and Suleman Hussain.
Sauban Umais in three words?
Honest, passionate and faithful.
