Do you remember when you first got into make-up and styling? Tell us about it.
When I started working with Nabila the guru, it was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. She is the only one I look up to in this country; she is my inspiration, my beacon of light. I feel I have a gift for making women look their best where they can be themselves and beautiful at the same time. I’ve always been intrigued by making them look a certain way – glam, glam, glam.
What are the few things you keep in mind when you are putting together a look for a client?
Personality, attitude towards life, body/ posture and individuality.
You have transformed so many celebrities’ style and looks. What do you love most about it?
At the end of it, they look a certain way. What I love about them the most is who they are and what they will be after this transformation. It’s always a team effort; if you have the right body and face and don’t have the right makeup look or artist or wardrobe, it wouldn’t work. On the other hand, if you have the right team to execute things smoothly, everything turns out the way you want. We at Nabila’s believe in teamwork and I have full faith in our team here.
Items you think are essential for a woman’s wardrobe?
A black and a white shirt, nude shoes, strappy shoes and the right undergarments. I recommend every woman to study her style
choices and develop a sense of style, as that’s very important.
Few trends you’re loving right now?
I try to keep myself aware of them, but frankly speaking I don’t follow any trends. I do what I like – it comes from within me and through research.
Your top three style tips?
Be yourself, play with what you have and don’t ever overdo – one should know where to stop!
What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about your job as an image consultant and stylist?
It is a thankless job big time – the biggest misfortune is that our nation doesn’t understand the meaning of it. They think it’s
the same as a make-up artist or hair stylist, which is the biggest misconception. It is all about having the right taste/eye and aesthetic.
Do you work with people on all aspects of their image?
For us, it starts from head and ends at toe, not just that there is a lot more to it.
Challenges you face as a stylist and image consultant?
Misconception of definitions, communication gap, from what you have to execute within certain boundaries, but challenges are fun.
