- The first major awards ceremony go virtual, it was a very strange sight to see Jimmy Kimmel addressing an empty auditorium!
- You've got to feel for the production team at this years Emmy's who managed camera feeds relayed from 130 nominees at home or elsewhere in 20 cities across 10 countries
- In this the strangest of years viewers were treated to a (or at least half of one) 'Friends' reunion. Jennifer Aniston who was scheduled to appear at the ceremony was chatting with Jimmy Kimmel when Courtney Cox and Lisa Kudrow wandered into the shot and joked about how the three ladies had been living together as roommates since 1994.
- Zendaya made history when she became only the second African American and the youngest ever woman to win Best Actress at the Emmy's.
- The usual post show analysis of the best fashions from the Awards Ceremony was limited because of the virtual nature of the event, but the winner of the most outrageous fashion choice was.. Hazmat Suits with some trophy winners (and losers - we see you Ramy Youssef) being presented their trophies by people clad in hazmat suits.
