MARY JAMES GILL - LAWYER/ACTIVIST
Mary James Gill is a Pakistani politician, human rights activist and lawyer who has won the prestigious Anna Lindh Prize for 2020. Gill through her tireless work has contributed immensely to increase safety and dignity for sanitation and waste disposal workers in Pakistan who continue to be amongst the most marginalized groups in our society. Through her work, Gill is attempting raise the status of these workers in society so that they are given their due with respect and protection. Between 2013-18, Gill served as a Member of Provincial Assembly of the Punjab against a seat reserved for women.
