SABIHA KHANUM - ACTRESS

In 2020 we also lost Sabiha Khanum, known as Pakistan’s First Lady of the silver screen. Sabiha Khanum was part of Pakistan’s Golden Age of film and one half of one of the most popular pairings in Pakistani cinema along with actor Santosh Kumar, to whom she was also married. She made her debut in the year 1950 with director Masood Pervaiz’s ‘Baili’, and tasted success in her next release, ‘Do Aansoo’, which was released the same year. ‘Do Ansoo’ had a successful 25 week run at the box office, and was given the status of a ‘silver jubilee’ hit. Sabiha Khanum was the recipient of the Nigar Award and was also awarded a Pride of Performance by the Government of Pakistan in 1986.
