Fahad Ahmad Performs His New Single ‘Himmat’
Fahad believes having a song which discusses depression helps remove the stigma and taboo associated with mental health. He performed his single 'Himmat' at Project Hope, launch of a weekly mental health support group by Anxiety Anonymous and The Second Floor (T2F) - a community space in Karachi. The event was held on November 14th at T2F which featured several speakers including Khalid Malik, Ahsan Bari, Varah Mussavir, Sana Zehra, Yousuf Bashir Qureshi, Fahad Ahmad himself and also performances by 'Sounds of Kolachi'.
To launch 'Himmat', Fahad performed with the renowned flute player Rahat Ali at a number of live events and shows on Mental Health Day. In addition to performing his single live, Fahad spoke about his experiences with mental health at various locations around the city; including on Dawn News’ morning show ‘Chai, Toast aur Host’ with Dino Ali; Karwan-e-Hayat’s event for the patients and practioners of mental health and Roohbaru's event at Lincoln Corner Pakistan American Cultural Center (PACC) on Mental Health Awareness.
Fahad believes in the need to talk about mental health and 'Himmat' adds to that narrative. This unique composition uses flute as a character that creates a haunting ambiance to tell the story of a person’s journey from darkness to light.
The single was co-produced with Kamijee, formerly of Aaroh and producer of late Junaid Jumshed’s last two albums.
