Celebrities Speak Up In Support Of Mahira Khan After Her Photos Go Viral
The pictures which are from earlier this year in July surfaced on the internet on Thursday night, causing social media abuzz; Twitter had her hashtag, #MahiraKhan trending - no surprise there. While many users had their opinion to share, her fellow co-stars took a stand for her.
Ali Zafar being the first posted a hand-written note on his social media profiles:
Many also took it a notch up by commenting on Mahira's morals and speculating about the mark on her back.
Following this, Hamza Ali Abbasi took to Facebook to put a rest to all assumptions and defended Mahira and yes, as expected - nailed it!
Next, it was Osman Khalid Butt. However, he underlined Pakistani society's double standards:
'SHOCKING: Behaya male actor cigarette-noshi kartay huay pakray gaye - sharmnaak manazir'.. said NO ONE EVER.
F*** your double standards. pic.twitter.com/t91Owh1D1i

Furthermore, Indian stand-up comedian Daniel Fernandes also made it a point to come to the Bin Roye actresses defence:
Repeat after me: A woman can smoke, drink, wear whatever she wants, go wherever she wants with whoever she wants. Good boy! Now sit down.

Daniel’s post was directed towards men, basically telling them to respect the choices that women make and mind their own business.
Ranbir Kapoor’s father, Rishi Kapoor had something to say too: “You see, Ranbir is a young star, he is unmarried, he’s a bachelor. He can meet anybody he wants and if people are going to invade his privacy, it’s not done. I can’t say anything about all this because he’s a young man and he has the choice of meeting any girl,” reported Hindustan Times.
He continued, “How do we know that here’s something more to this picture? He could have met her just outside there. They must have been in a restaurant or a place where they cannot smoke, that’s why they are smoking outside. In the US, they have really strict rules that don’t allow smoking in public places. I can’t say anything more because I don’t know anything more than that.”
Rest assured, Mahira has nothing to worry about!
