Where Ramzan teaches us patience, self-discipline and empathy, many of us forget to keep the balance in routine which is really important.
Here are some tips that you can follow to eat right and keep well during the holy month of Ramzan.
Increase Your Water Intake During Night Hours
Drink as much water as possible after Iftar until Sehri especially since now that we’re experiencing hot days. Dehydration can lead to fatigue and weakness. Make sure you have at least two litres of water during the night.
Keep a Balance
When fasting, your body is deprived of nutrients that your system needs so it is so important to make sure that when you can eat, you keep your meals balanced so that you feed your system enough nutrients. We know it’s really hard to resist those pakoras and samosas but we all know they’re not the healthiest food items to indulge in when your body has been deprived of all kinds of nutrients all day. Make sure to add in healthy items in your Iftar.
Make Exercise Part Of Your Routine
Light exercises are great to keep blood flowing and the system working. Cardio exercises are also fine to do when fasting as long as you don't overdo it. You can also swap your morning workout routine to night even if you’re keeping it light so you don’t burn out.
Get Enough Sleep
Getting enough hours of sleep at night during Ramzan is a struggle for many Muslims. Sleep is a key ingredient of one's well being and functioning during the day. Our cells repair themselves during sleep, thus it is important to find the right balance, even during the holy month of Ramzan. Make sure you sleep at night even if it is for a few hours only until Sehri. Also, catch some more sleep after Sehri but don’t sleep through the day as this makes you more tired and lazy.
We hope you follow these steps and they make a difference in your routine. Ramzan Mubarak everyone.
