Travelling is a beautiful luxury and one of the best ways to spend your time and money, because it’s a great way to see stunning locations, make great memories, and learn about new cultures. Most of the time whenever you are at such a location you usually want to take pictures and document the experience but sometimes the pictures aren’t able to capture the true beauty and essence of the location. So here are five ways to take your travel photography to the next level.
1. WAKE UP EARLY AND STAY OUT LATE
Where ever you are going whether it be in the mountains or to a bustling city, the landscape of the same location can change drastically depending on what time you are there. For example, the New York time square looks beautiful in the daytime but the magic happens at night. In the same ways, Lake Saif-ul-Mulook is a beautiful sight in the clear daylight but at night the starry sky only adds to its beauty. So, when you are travelling where ever that might be, you should take advantage of the time you have and capture as much as possible. From the sunrise to the sunset till the late-night views of the starry sky take advantage of all the views and document them to the best of your ability to get many different photos from just one location.
2. INCLUDE THE LOCALS
Every place you go to has its own culture and aspects that are unique to them. These aspects can be seen within the locals so, if you can, try to take pictures of the locals and their practices of daily lives to have a unique element of your travels immortalized in your pictures. One thing to remember for this is to always take permission from the locals before photographing them and to respect their boundaries. These pictures are perfect for any place which has a different culture and clothing than one which you are used to, for example in Pakistan if you go to Kalash valley and take permission you can create a whole portfolio of pictures by just photographing the locals and their cultural practices.
3. FIND BOLD COLOURS AND ELEMENTS
Everything that stands out from the background you are in, is perfect for your Instagram. It could be a bright car in front of a snowy landscape or somebody dressed up in a ball gown in the middle of the street. Whatever it might be, any element that stands out from the crowd and the backdrop is perfect to create a picture with an impact.
4. USE INSTANT FILM
If you are a person who loves to travel and take pictures then you should invest in polaroid photos either by printing photos on paper or by investing in a polaroid camera. If you do decide on investing in a polaroid camera then it can easily create some bomb pictures and you can post these polaroids on your Instagram for a vibey aesthetic. Additionally, you can also use these polaroid photos and turn them into scrapbooks or journal pages to create these beautiful books commemorating your journeys and travels.
5. MOVE AWAY FROM THE CAMERA
One of the things that can make your travel photos look professional is by standing away from the camera. You can give the camera off to your family, or friends or even place it somewhere or on a tripod to get the effect. In these pictures, you need to be far away from the camera and look away. You can either be walking away towards a scenic location or sitting far away somewhere. Pictures like these help let the background become focused but a small element like you or another person can add a lot of personality to the picture.
