Very hot and dry weather to be expected next week in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad according to Pakistan Meteorological Department. Temperature will rise further with no sign of relief in sight. It is suggested to stay indoors, keep cool and most importantly stay hydrated.

For the next few days, the maximum temperature in Rawalpindi will be around 42 °C while  Islamabad city may witness 40 °C. There is no chance of rain.

Deputy District Health Officer Dr Muhammad Ali Mirza advised citizens to avoid going out unnecessarily in the sun between 10am to 5pm, and if so, they must take preventive measures such as covering their heads, drinking ORS and water frequently to stay hydrated.

If they feel their body temperatures rising or any kind of headache, they should find a shade immediately and drink water as headaches are caused when the body is dehydrated, he added. District Health Officer Preventive Services Dr Naveed Malik said that signs and symptoms of heatstroke are dry skin with severe headache, lethargy, vertigo and extreme tiredness.
